García & Bodán strengthens its tax practice

García & Bodán has recently incorporated Mauricio Orellana, who joins the team as Senior Associate of the firm in El Salvador. Also, Orellana comes to serve as Director of the tax practice in the country.

Mauricio Orellana started in the firm as Of Counsel. He has more than 15 years of experience in Tax Law, during which he has practiced it from different fields, which allows him to have a holistic approach of Tax Law. Currently, his practice focuses in providing legal advice in taxes to multinational companies, in order to provide efficient alternatives in their investments in the country, as well as to deliver strategies on fiscal defense regarding internal taxes, transfer prices and Customs matters.

“The incorporation of Mauricio responds to a market need in a sensitive area for the companies, as it is the Tax Law; a practice that we already managed within the firm, but to which we wanted to give a wider focus from the financial point of view. We know the trajectory, capacity and integrity of Mauricio as a professional, since we have worked together in various projects, transactions and litigations, so we are only reinforcing a relationship that already existed for several years. His incorporation has been very welcomed by some of our clients that already know his work, and we hope to keep expanding in this matter”, said Julio Vargas, Managing Partner of the firm in El Salvador.

After the recent appointment of Oscar Torres to Partner, the firm makes another smart move with the incorporation of Orellana, aiming to the direction of growth of El Salvador office and the strengthening of the tax practice at regional level. This department is one of the supporting pillars to the clients in their investments and businesses, given the importance and incidence of the Central American legal framework in the tax area.
