GarciaBodan Nicaragua advised on the acquisition of a property located in the historic center of Granada, Nicaragua, in a transaction that led to its transformation into the first Voco hotel by IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) in Central America. The firm provided legal counsel throughout the purchase process, as part of the client’s expansion into the regional tourism sector.
The property, located just 50 meters from Granada’s cathedral and central park, was acquired in April 2023. The purchase agreement was initially signed that year and finalized in April 2024. The property remained closed for a full renovation in compliance with Voco’s brand standards and officially reopened in early May 2025.
For this transaction, GarciaBodan delivered a full range of legal services, including the negotiation of terms and conditions, title review, due diligence reporting, and drafting of the legal documents necessary to formalize the deal. The team was led by Eduardo Cabrales, Partner and Regional Director of the firm’s Real Estate practice.
