United Way Guatemala
García & Bodán Guatemala has provided legal advice to United Way Guatemala in the registration of raffles before the Departmental Government thus allowing due process and transparency in the Draws.
United Way Guatemala, founded in 2001, is an entity that effectively channels Corporate Social Responsibility efforts towards the communities. It receives funding from a variety of sources, such as campaign payroll deductions, membership fees from affiliated companies, programs sponsored by private companies and supervised by United Way Guatemala, special events and activities. In addition, individual donations, international contributions and donations in kind. That is the vision for a better future for all Guatemalans, that is what makes United Way Guatemala strong.
Starting in 2017, United Way Guatemala has held special events, such as raffles, as a strategy to attract donations to support programs in favor of Early Childhood in Guatemala, in the areas of education and health. Early Childhood is considered in the life stage of 0 to 6 years; it is an important stage of life in the country, since Guatemala is the country with the highest rate of chronic malnutrition with an alarming figure, since 5 out of 10 children under 5 years of age suffer from it and condemn more than 1.5 million children for life.
Our pro bono work consisted of legal advice in relation to the registration of 3 raffles before the Departmental Government with the names: Ciao Roma and Bonjour Paris, both in 2017, and Olá Brasil in June 2019, as well as the respective settlement of these at the time of the awards ceremony.
Marvin Cantoral and Baltazar Pu, Law Clerks of García & Bodán were the persons responsible for the records before the Government entities.
