International Tender for the Reconstruction of the San Miguel Market, El Salvador
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport of El Salvador (MOPT) has launched the tender for the execution of the reconstruction project of the San Miguel Municipal Market, as part of the Resilient Local Economic Development Project, financed by the World Bank.
This project, which will have a significant impact on economic recovery and the strengthening of local commerce, aims to rebuild the market that was destroyed by a fire in 2021, providing a modern and safe space for traders and the community.
Project Details
The tender is open to all eligible companies interested in participating in the construction of new commercial infrastructure in the municipality of San Miguel and surrounding municipalities. The project involves the creation of an earthquake-resistant market with 1,379 commercial stalls, efficiently distributed to ensure an appropriate environment for the sale of products at affordable prices while promoting job creation.
The estimated start date for the works is the first quarter of 2025, with an execution period of 630 calendar days from the issuance of the notice to proceed. This reconstruction will not only offer improved services to traders and consumers but will also strengthen the local economy of San Miguel, contributing to the well-being of users and the revitalization of the area.
