Investment Project

Design, construction, equipment, and operation for the improvement and/or expansion of the Chiquimula Hospital, Chiquimula, Guatemala

As part of its services to beneficiary partner countries, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) is financing the improvement and expansion of the Chiquila Hospital in Chiquila, Guatemala, with the objective of reestablishing the installed capacity of the hospital network in the departments of Alta Verapaz, Jutiapa and Suitepéquez, by designing, building, and equipping new and improved facilities for a total of 670 beds.

In addition, it will improve and increase the capacity of the national hospitals in Chiquimula and Sololá by upgrading existing infrastructure and new facilities to 1,040 beds. These investments are expected to increase the number of patients treated each year by 37%. The project also seeks to benefit the inhabitants of the area of influence in the provinces of Suchitpéquez, Retalhuleu, Escuintla, Santa Rosa, Gutiapa, Xalapa, Alta Verapaz, Baja Verapaz, Quiché, Sololá, Totonicapan, Chiquimula and Zacapa.

Of the USD 193.2 million, USD 79 million will come from the “Korean-Central American Joint Development Fund” agreement signed between the Korean Ministry of Economy and Finance and CABEI.

The Contractor shall be selected in accordance with the procedures of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration established in the Policy for the Procurement of Goods, Works, Services and Consultancies with CABEI Resources and its Rules for Application.
