Investment Project

Construction of Port in Bluefields in Nicaragua

The project foresees the construction of a port in Bluefields that counts with 8 to 10 meters depth, 400 to 450 meters in length and with a capacity for boats of 5,000 to 10,000 dwt, expecting the annual production to be up to 4.5 million tons.

The port will have a canal and maneuver dock, and is expected to have a pier of 322 meters in length, with a deposit area of containers and storage.

With the construction of this port, Nicaragua will no longer depend of the ports of Honduras and Costa Rica to make its exports and imports. It will significantly reduce the operating cost of the imports and exports that leaves of the Nicaraguan Caribe, especially the ones with destiny to United States.

Developing a port in Bluefields will ease the international commerce, positioning Nicaragua in a high level with the rest of the countries of the region, especially with the economic growth that is experimenting and the interest if strengthening the export base.

Estimated cost of investment: USD 200 million
