Aerial Cable Car System in Guatemala
Currently, the population of the Municipality of Villa Nueva reaches the seven hundred and sixty thousand (760,000) habitants of which more than sixty (60) percent mobilize by public transport in their different alternatives. However, the conditions of distance, traffic, existing road infrastructure, vehicular congestion, travel time, installed capacity of buses and the lack of alternatives make urban mobility to require creative, innovative proposals and with first class technology.
Due to the current demand of public transport users, the aerial cable car system is considered an excellent option to connect different points in different municipalities in the Department of Guatemala. However, it is necessary that the new modality of public service provision is technologically supported and it must ensure its proper maintenance through the support of companies with recognized experience worldwide.
The Municipality of Villa Nueva keeps receiving bids from the public tender process until April 2nd, 2018, where the provision of this municipal service is awarded. Within the concession process, it will be made the necessary private investments to develop the technical studies, feasibility study, architectural designs, planning, construction of works, electromechanical designs, manufacture of equipment, equipment installation, operation and administration of the system, maintenance of the same and the possibility of incorporating new technologies.
