Ligia López is Senior Counsel at GarciaBodan in Guatemala.

She has more than 24 years of professional experience, specializing in electric power regulation, corporate law, compliance, and risk management.

For over two decades, she has led corporate legal departments, managing multidisciplinary teams of more than 30 professionals in the areas of regulation, commercial contracting, corporate, judicial, and corporate governance. Her experience includes legal representation of multiple companies, ensuring regulatory compliance, proper risk management, and the strengthening of corporate governance.

She has advised both public and private entities on electric power sector regulation and public utility services, consolidating deep knowledge of the regional energy market and the corporate dynamics of large-scale companies.

As general attorney-in-fact with representation authority, represented the interests of the nine EPM companies in Guatemala, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks, applicable laws, and internal policies, in addition to managing associated risks. Her experience also includes handling electric power bids, civil and commercial proceedings, issuance of legal opinions, personnel management, and the administration of commercial and corporate contracts.
