
The National Electric Power Company (ENEE) of Honduras has launched two international public tenders to advance the development of the El Tablón Multipurpose Hydroelectric Project, located in the department of Cortés.
Tender No. 001 -ENEE-UEPER-2025 aims to select contractors to carry out the hydroelectric project’s main construction works and related infrastructure, while Tender No. 002 -ENEE-UEPER-2025 is directed at consulting firms that will oversee both the detailed design and construction phases of the project.
The estimated budget for the construction phase exceeds US $300 million. The project is expected to make a significant contribution to renewable energy generation, flood control, and water supply in the northern region of the country.
Tender for supervision of detailed design and construction
The first tender is intended for consulting firms interested in supervising the detailed engineering and construction of the project, ensuring compliance with technical, environmental, and social standards based on national and international guidelines.
Contractor responsibilities include:
- Review and supervision of the detailed design.
- Technical, environmental, and social oversight during project execution.
- Quality control, scheduling, and cost monitoring.
- Evaluation of compliance with technical specifications.
- Coordination with local communities, environmental authorities, and the project’s funder.
Requirements to participate:
- Verified experience supervising hydroelectric or complex infrastructure projects.
- Qualified technical staff in civil, environmental, and social engineering fields.
- Administrative and financial capacity.
- Registration in HonduCompras.

Tender for construction works
The second tender seeks qualified contractors for the execution of major civil works and associated facilities.
Contractor responsibilities include:
- Construction of a roller-compacted concrete dam.
- Construction of the spillway, stilling basin, bottom outlets, ecological flow release system, intakes for irrigation, drinking water, and power generation, along with all necessary hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment.
- Construction of intake structures.
- Construction of diversion tunnels and conveyance channels.
- Development of access roads, camps, wastewater treatment plants, a solar power plant, a visitor center, environmental mitigation works, and other complementary structures.
Requirements to participate:
- Proven experience in similar projects, preferably in large-scale hydraulic works and dams.
- Demonstrated financial and technical capacity.
- Active registration in the HonduCompras system.
- Compliance with national and international environmental and social regulations.
- All other necessary permits and authorizations.
