Guatemala is recommended for investment opportunities

The Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations -CEOE- in the informative seminar developed on September 23rd of this year in Madrid, Spain, have highlighted the investment opportunities and development projects that companies of Spanish origin can carry out in Guatemala.

Government authorities such as the Minister of Economy, Antonio Malouf, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pedro Brolo, and the President of the Coordinating Committee of Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial and Financial Associations -CACIF-, Nils Leporowski, have participated in this conference.

In his speech, the President of the CEOE, has stated that Guatemala is a good opportunity for investment in the telecommunications, energy and agro-industrial sectors; he has also emphasized a renewed boost to trade relations since the inauguration of the Constitutional President, Alejandro Giammattei. On the other hand, he indicated that they are fully prepared to strengthen relations between both countries and jointly with the Coordinating Committee of Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial and Financial Associations -CACIF.

On the other hand, Jose Luis Bonet, maximum representative of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, has stated that “Spain is the main European investor and exporter to Guatemala and we believe that this privileged partner status has been reinforced by instruments such as the European Union-Central America Association Agreement, which entered into force in 2013.

The Minister of Economy, Antonio Maluf on his part has stated that the current Government of Guatemala is taking coordination decisions for the country’s Economic Recovery Plan; he has stated that “The country offers a privileged strategic location, a capable and trained young bond, a stable macroeconomy, and the will to continue being strategic allies for the mutual benefit of both countries” (Spain and Guatemala).
