Project Phase II of the Comprehensive Program of Water and Human Sanitation – PISASH in Nicaragua

The PISASH is a program intended to increase the coverage of potable water up to 95% in the urban sector and a continuity of at least 16 hours per day and 75% in sanitary sewer. This includes the intervention in 41 cities of the country.

Currently, preparations are being made for the search of financing of the Phase II of the program that includes a portfolio of projects in potable water and sanitary sewer in 22 cities (Santo Domingo, Ocotal, Jinotepe, Isla de Ometepe, León, Tipitapa, Waspam, El Viejo, Mateare, Chichigalpa, Camoapa, San Jorge, Buenos Aires, Somotillo, El Sauce, Villanueva, Telica, La Paz Centro, Nagarote, San Benito, San Rafael del Sur y Chinandega).

The Comprehensive Program of Water and Human Sanitation contemplates the improvement and extension of the services of potable water, sanitary sewer and waste-water treatment in urban and rural areas; the increase of institutional capabilities for operation, maintenance, management and financial sustainability; and the integral management of water resource, so the population fully exercise its Human Right to Water and Sanitation.
