Remodeling of La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala

The General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC, by its acronyms in Spanish) announced the investment of Q110,506,000.00 (USD 15 millions) for the remodeling of La Aurora International Airport. This remodeling will be carried out with own funds of DGAC, which will be distributed as follows:

Placing of asphalt mixture in the active track and quick exits of the air terminal – Q82.2 million (USD 11 millions).
• Purchase and installation of porcelain floor – Q18.9 million (USD 1.7 million)
• Lease of non-intrusive inspection of persons and luggage – Q13.1 million (USD 1.7 million)
• Signaling painting for the country’s airports and airfields – Q5.3 million (USD 650,000.00)
• Remodeling of 52 toilets – Q6 million (USD 789,000.00)

The project aims to provide a better service to the 23 million users who use La Aurora International Airport annually.
In addition, they seek the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to raise the airport classification and not lose its status as an international airport.

The DGAC indicated that in the last weeks of January they will make the bidding competitions public. This will be awarded by means of the qualification that the bidders obtain in the reverse auction, to guarantee the transparency of the process. They expect to be able to start the project in March.
