Free Program of Formalization of CCIT and OIT in Honduras

García & Bodán Honduras, through Graciela Cruz, Partner and Director of the Intellectual Property practice in that country, and Astrid Villeda, Associate, are working synergistically with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tegucigalpa (CCIT) and the International Labor Organization (OIT, for its acronyms in Spanish) in the implementation of a Free Formalization Program for Micro Businesses.

This program is carried out within the framework of the project “Participatory Construction of a Sector Strategy for the Transition to the Formal Economy in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras”, executed by OIT together with the Chambers of Commerce of the countries mentioned above, and with the support and funding of the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), whose purpose, as the title mentions it, is to encourage and promote the transition from the informal economy to the formal one in the commercial sector, in this case, within the Republic of Honduras.

The advice provided by García & Bodán Honduras has consisted in the review and support in filling out the Questionnaire and Consolidated Legal Guide, documents that serve as a map to determine what a company requires to operate in the formality for micro-businesses, redirect users of the platform to the corresponding information in the guide, provide guidance on the step by step to perform each procedure, and advise them either under the form of corporation, entrepreneurship, or individual.

As part of the support to the Program, García & Bodán Honduras has also provided a series of virtual trainings to the microentrepreneurs that goes from the process of constitution and registration of a company, to the necessary procedures for the registration of their corresponding trademarks, fiscal and municipal obligations.
