New International Tender for Geothermal Energy in Nicaragua

The Ministry of Energy and Mines of Nicaragua has launched an international tender aimed at companies specializing in deep well drilling under the title “Drilling of Deep Wells in the Geothermal Area of the Cosigüina Volcano”. This initiative aims to promote the development of geothermal energy in the region.

Interested companies must submit their proposals before August 19, 2024. Only physical submissions will be accepted, and the proposals must be written in Spanish.

The geothermal area of the Cosigüina Volcano possesses high energy potential, representing a significant opportunity to advance the use of renewable energies in Nicaragua. This tender is part of the Ministry of Energy and Mines’ efforts to diversify the energy matrix and promote the responsible use of natural resources.

The Request for Proposals (RFP) will be conducted in accordance with the procedures of the International Public Tender (IPT) as established in the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) publication titled “Policies for the Procurement of Goods and Services Financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)” GN-2349-15, approved by the Bank’s Executive Board on July 2, 2019, and effective January 1, 2020. It is open to all bidders from eligible countries as defined in the bidding documents.
