Rural electrification program begins in isolated locations in Honduras

The Government of the Republic of Honduras has received a donation from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to initiate the bidding process for the rural electrification program in isolated areas “Supply of Goods and Related Services for Renewable Energy Generation Systems through Microgrids in Brus Laguna, Department of Gracias a Dios and Guanaja, Department of Islas de la Bahía”. The purpose of this initiative is to reduce poverty, increase the quality of life in rural areas, and incorporate them into the country’s economic and social development process, solving the lack of electricity and improving the quality of energy supply to homes and community centers in rural and social areas.

The project is divided into two lots:

The Goods and Related Services to be used in the construction of the project will be exempt from Sales Tax (ISV), according to Resolution EM2019002617 Certification which applies only to local purchases and Import Tax.

The process will be carried out through an International Competitive Bidding (ICB) established in the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) publication and is open to all bidders from eligible countries.

Deadline for submission of bids: June 24th, 2021.
