{"id":43115,"date":"2025-09-17T16:47:20","date_gmt":"2025-09-17T22:47:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/garciabodan.com\/?p=43115"},"modified":"2025-10-01T14:02:13","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T20:02:13","slug":"el-salvador-positions-itself-as-regional-financial-hub-new-investment-banking-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/garciabodan.com\/en\/el-salvador-positions-itself-as-regional-financial-hub-new-investment-banking-law\/","title":{"rendered":"El Salvador positions itself as a regional financial hub with new Investment Banking Law"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">On August 11, 2025, El Salvador\u2019s Official Gazette published the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Investment Banking Law<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, a regulation that marks a decisive step in the country\u2019s strategy to establish itself as a regional and international financial hub.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This law regulates the incorporation and operation of investment Banks, institutions responsible for channeling large amounts of capital into business and government projects, with the aim of boosting the national economy and expanding financing options.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Exclusivity for sophisticated investors<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The regulation establishes that Investment Banks may only serve Sophisticated Investors, meaning individuals or legal entities with financial experience and a minimum net worth of US $250,000 in liquid assets.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">These assets may consist of cash, treasury bonds, gold, and even Bitcoin, stablecoins, and tokenized assets.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Robust capital and strict supervision<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Entities must be incorporated as fixed-capital corporations with a minimum capital of US $50 million, paid in dollars and deposited with the Central Reserve Bank (BCR). The Superintendency of the Financial System will oversee their operations, while the BCR will establish technical rules to ensure solvency, liquidity, and transparency.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Authorized services<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Investment Banks will be able to offer a or Bitcoin Service Providers, in accordance with the Digital Assets Issuance Law and the Bitcoin Law.<\/span>\u00a0<br \/>\r\n<span data-contrast=\"auto\">This enables the possibility of carrying out investment, financing, and custody operations with Bitcoin, stablecoins, and tokenized assets, broadening the range of opportunities for global investors and positioning El Salvador as a pioneer in
