{"id":37595,"date":"2025-06-26T00:00:19","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T06:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/garciabodan.com\/?p=37595"},"modified":"2025-09-05T09:17:41","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T15:17:41","slug":"nicaragua-new-regulations-aim-to-boost-foreign-investment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/garciabodan.com\/en\/nicaragua-new-regulations-aim-to-boost-foreign-investment\/","title":{"rendered":"Nicaragua: new regulations aim to boost foreign investment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">On May 6, 2025, the National Assembly of Nicaragua published in La Gaceta, the Oficial Gazzette, the Regulations of Law No. 1240, the Foreign Investment Law, aimed at strengthening the legal framework to attract international capital.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The regulation outlines the roles of two new key entities: <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the<\/span><\/b> <b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">National Foreign Investment Commission (CNIE)<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> and the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Technical Committee for Evaluation and Monitoring of Strategic Investments (CTESIE)<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. These bodies will be responsible for reviewing and approving foreign investments, as well as identifying those considered strategic for national development.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As part of the system\u2019s modernization, the <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Single Foreign Investment Registration Certificate (RUIE)<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> has been introduced. This certificate becomes a mandatory requirement for formalizing economic operations and for conducting procedures with public institutions. It will be issued by the Investment Directorate of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade (MIFIC), which will also oversee the registration process.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The regulation specifies the steps and required documentation for registering as a foreign investor, and sets technical guidelines for determining which projects qualify as strategic investments. Additionally, the framework includes measures to streamline administrative processes and monitor the implementation of these projects through centralized management and digital tools.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Registration Procedure<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Foreign investors must submit an application to MIFIC along with the following documents:<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n<ol>\r\n\t<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Investment plan.<\/span><\/li>\r\n\t<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Draft articles of incorporation (if applicable).<\/span><\/li>\r\n\t<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Notarized copy of passport or residency ID.<\/span><\/li>\r\n\t<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Corporate documents for any already-established foreign entities.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">All documents must be submitted in Spanish.
