The country&#8217;s most popular sport is soccer, although athletics is the most popular. Other popular sports in the country include cycling, basketball, boxing, surfing, bowling, baseball, and swimming.\n\nCosta Rica currently has 24 stadiums, of which only six have the capacity for more than 10,000 people. For this reason, the Costa Rican government plans to build a stadium with a capacity for 25,000 people on a site of more than 174 hectares.\n\nThis new stadium will have a field, dressing rooms and bleachers, as well as restaurants, stores, a museum, boxes, a meeting place, and entertainment centers for all members of the family.
