{"id":10684,"date":"2019-11-01T09:43:45","date_gmt":"2019-11-01T08:43:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/garciabodan.com\/?p=10684"},"modified":"2025-08-11T19:58:19","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T17:58:19","slug":"morazanica-week-in-honduras","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/garciabodan.com\/en\/morazanica-week-in-honduras\/","title":{"rendered":"Moraz\u00e1nica Week in Honduras"},"content":{"rendered":"During the month of October, Honduras celebrated three important commemorative dates: October 3<sup>rd<\/sup>: Honduran Soldier&#8217;s Day; October 12<sup>th<\/sup>: Columbus Day, also known as Hispanic Day; and October 21<sup>st<\/sup>: Armed Forces Day.\n\nThese holidays were unified by initiative of the National Congress (NC) through legislative decree No. 78-2014 of 2014, becoming what is now known as the Moraz\u00e1nica Week, in homage to the remembered national hero, General Francisco Moraz\u00e1n.\n\nAmong the objectives of the Moraz\u00e1nica Week is to promote domestic tourism, and this year for the public sector the holiday began on September 30<sup>th<\/sup>, while for private enterprise, the rest was given from noon on Wednesday 2<sup>nd<\/sup>, ending on Saturday October 5<sup>th<\/sup>.\n\nAccording to the president of the National Chamber of Tourism of Honduras (CANATURH), the Moraz\u00e1nica Week has estimated profits of around 2 million lempiras, generating more than 20 thousand jobs.\n\nWith a mobilization projection of almost 1.3 million people, tourism operators mention among the most interesting destinations, on one hand: the beautiful beaches of the Atlantic coast, specifically that ones of the Bay Islands (Roatan, Guanaja and Utila), Tela, Cayos Cochinos, Ceiba and Trujillo.\n\nOn the other hand, there is the Fortress of San Fernando de Omoa in the Department of Cort\u00e9s, and the R\u00edo Pl\u00e1tano Biosphere Reserve in La Mosquitia, which is the enormous natural reserve declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.\n\nAnd finally the western zone, which includes the Copan Ruins, where begins the route that extends to the eastern zone in the department of El Para\u00edso, in which fans of products such as: coffee, tobacco, cocoa and corn, can undertake a journey through the places of production and marketing with the opportunity to taste 100% Honduran production.\n\nMoraz\u00e1nica Week is therefore of great importance for both economic and cultural development, thus becoming one of the channels that allows Hondurans to publicize their work, increase their production and attract people from all countries of the world so that they can benefit from the natural wealth that Honduras offers.\n\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10689 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/garciabodan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Vanessa-Oquel\u00ed-250414.-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"170\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/garciabodan.com\/en\/?p=3511\">J.
