Innovation in Nicaragua

The development of the countries is closely related to the level of technological innovation of the industry in which it is advanced, which is why the protection of the innovation is even more important to guarantee security in its development.

It is not only enough the protection to these innovations, but also with the implementation, perseverance and continuity, especially when difficult periods in economic development occur, as it is essential to maintain quality in production, services and in the development in order to not going back even when it is not advancing because of the difficulty of the period.

In Nicaragua, the index of innovation according to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has dropped in recent years, about 142 economies evaluated by WIPO in 2013 we were in place 115, in 2014 in place 125 and 2015 in place 130, so we can say that in the last three years we have retreated five positions between each evaluation, so there is a real need to create policies and strategies of implementation to encourage the industry to innovate.

Similarly, awareness and culture of innovation must be created in the service and production sectors, so that both the productive sector and the consumers are benefited, which also becomes a higher level of development in the country’s innovation.
