García & Bodán advises Eurofinsa on the development of El Amatillo border crossing
García & Bodán has assisted the Spanish company Eurofinsa, a subsidiary of the North American company IBT LLC, in the development of El Amatillo border crossing (El Salvador-Honduras), which includes its design and construction. The project is budgeted at USD 13.5 million, funds from FOMILENIO II.
García & Bodán El Salvador, through Oscar Torres, Partner, and Senior Associate Mauricio Orellana, accompanied the client from its participation in the public call for bids. The advice included the review of the bidding bases and subsequent preparation of legal opinions on tax, corporate and labor matters, in order to find the ideal way for the company to participate in the bid and its subsequent establishment in the Salvadoran jurisdiction.
The project to modernize El Amatillo border crossing includes physical and technological infrastructure to reduce waiting time at the border. Among the proposed goals are to increase the flow of exports and imports, streamline the passage of cargo and reduce the waiting time from eight hours to 30 minutes, improve infrastructure in poor condition and make efficient procedures for entry and exit across the border.
