García & Bodán Nicaragua has acted as local counsel for Cosmos, a company organized and existing under the laws of India, to license a branch of Cosmos International Private Limited, which may be identified as Cosmos International Private Limited, Sucursal en Nicaragua (the “branch”), and proceed with all required registrations and approvals so as to duly operate in Nicaragua. Additionally, the Firm has provided necessary legal counsel in the process of negotiation and execution of contracts with the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health (MINSA, for its acronym in Spanish) and other Nicaraguan ministries or authorities.
Cosmos is an Export House and EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) Contractor duly licensed and recognized by the Government of India, which has executed EPC Projects in several countries, particularly in relation to Healthcare, Agriculture, Industrialization, Housing and Printing Technology sectors.
The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit of Nicaragua (MHCP, for its acronym in Spanish), on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua, signed a loan agreement with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and the UK Export Finance Agency of the United Kingdom (UKEF) for more than 96 million dollars to co-finance the “Project to Strengthen the Health Care Capacity of the Hospital Services Network in Prioritized Health Units. The executing agency for Nicaragua is the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health (MINSA), with which Cosmos has contracted the construction and start-up of six Covid-19 Hospitals and an Oncology Consultation Center, as well as the supply of equipment for a Molecular Biology Laboratory.
