Investment Opportunities in the Chorotega Region of Costa Rica

The Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promotion Agency (PROCOMER) has released a detailed study on the Chorotega region, highlighting its opportunities for attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). This analysis provides key insights for investors to identify areas with potential and promote development in Guanacaste.

The study emphasizes the strengths of cantons such as La Cruz, Liberia, Carrillo, Santa Cruz, Bagaces, Nicoya, Hojancha, Cañas, Nandayure, Abangares, and Tilarán. Notably, it points out the availability of technicians in information and communication technologies, as well as a favorable environment in terms of service coverage and a low water stress index in several communities.

The sectors with the highest potential include aquaculture, agro-industry, light manufacturing, logistics, and tourism infrastructure. This positions the region as an attractive destination for investors interested in various industries. However, the study also reveals significant challenges, such as improving female economic participation and expanding internet access, underscoring the need for a comprehensive approach to promote regional development.

Additionally, the study aims to foster collaboration between PROCOMER and local stakeholders to turn these opportunities into tangible realities. The initiative seeks to ensure that the benefits of FDI are distributed equitably throughout the country, inviting investors to consider the Chorotega region as a viable and strategic option for their projects in Costa Rica.
